Original US Army Air Corps flight ensemble.

The Aviators image

One of the most challenging and casualty ridden campaigns ever fought, was the air war during WW2. This era comprised some of the most skilled pilots to take flight. To some, the image of the Air Corps is the famed A-2 flying jacket. The jacket was a very basic design, but very iconic jacket. eventually made limited standard in 1943, it continued to be worn in the Korean conflict due to its popularity.

Another highly iconic piece of clothing was the aviators “crush cap”. Seasoned pilots would often take the stiffener out of their Officers dress caps to wear with headphones, achieving a ‘been there’ look.

One of my passions is collection A-2 leather jackets. I hope you enjoy my collection display of the pilot it came from.
